When you have a life passion, it is not realized without having a clear vision. But that vision alone is not enough. It needs to be acted on, planted in to your soul. It needs to be nourished, sometimes encouraged and sometimes readjusted. But, when your vision is aligned with who you are, what you embody, and how you present yourself in your living – magic happens.
My brother (Darrell) and sister in-law (Jo) for years had a vision, a purpose, a drive to align their way of living to the core values that they hold. In 2018, after years of exploring for the right location they found the location where their vision was to be planted.
It was here, on these 5 hectares of cattle pasture where their soul called to them. The place where their vision was to take root
Darrell and Jo’s vision, what called to them was to live a life congruent to their beliefs. To find a home not only where they could live, but where they COULD make a change. And it was on these 5 hectares where Tree Haven was born. In 2018 they embarked on returning this pasture land back to Mother Earth.
These are Cercropia sp. trees and were part of the initial plantings. These trees are called “Pioneer” trees as they are instrumental food sources for bringing wildlife back to a reforested area. On the left, planted in 2018 and 8-12″ tall – in 5 years these trees are around 50 feet tall
In the following years they have planted around 1000 trees. Not all have survived (they estimate their success rate around 30% – it is a learning process!) But between removing the cattle from the land, clearing out the cattle grass, introducing pioneer trees, adding native tree species and food sources (fruit trees etc) mother nature is flourishing here!

They are truly an inspiration to me. To see and experience the difference they are making is incredible and I am so honored to be able to participate in their vision. Love you guys, this Encyclopedia is to celebrate the life you are living, and the living environment you have encourage to return! (okay, it is also a really fun project for me 😉 !
